Northeast womens regional rugby
newcastle, 16 January 2006: Following a successful trials day, involving 36 female rugby players from Northeast rugby clubs ranging from Thirsk to Berwick, the following players have been selected for the Northeast Regional Squad for 05/06:
· Forwards: Katie ARMSTRONG (Northumbria Uni), Natalie BADCOCK (Blaydon), Rose BOLDON (Berwick) Kayleigh HUTCHISON (Northumbria Uni), Elizabeth JONES (Blaydon), Rachel KERR (Thirsk) Danielle LATHBURY (Teesside Uni), Sophie LAZENBY (Blaydon), Vicki PUTSON (Hartlepool), Alison TAYLOR (Blaydon), Sarah YULE (Blaydon)
· Backs: Chloe GRAHAM (Morpeth), Rebecca HUTCHINGS (Blaydon), Emma LLOYD (Hartlepool), Nicola O’DONNELL (Hartlepool), Rebecca PEARSON (Northumbria Uni), Tegan PICKLES (Blaydon), Gemma SHEVELS (Blaydon), Gemma SMITH (Blaydon), Adele TIPPING (Morpeth), Sarah WILLIAMS (Tynedale), Ashleigh WRIGHT (Thirsk)
Head Coach Colin Grimes says that this is an exciting, young squad that can play an attractive and flowing, attacking style of rugby in a series of 3 games.
Matches will be held on the following dates:
· 5 Feb 06 North East v North West (Away)
· 26 Feb 06 North East v West Mids (Home, Northern RFC)
· 19 Mar 06 North East v Yorkshire (Away)
The squad has been lucky enough to secure a training session with Newcastle Falcons on WEDNESDAY 18 JANUARY at 7.00 pm. Any press should make themselves known to Colin Grimes by 6.45 pm on this date.
