On March 22 women's teams from the University of Leicester and De Montfort University Leicester will play their annual varsity match at the home of Guinness Premiership outfit Leicester Tigers.

Most of the players only took up the sport when they joined university in September 2005. However they are all thrilled with the idea of playing at Welford Road.

Their game, which kicks off at 6pm, follows other sports teams who will be battling it our during the day to decide which university is dominant in sports from Netball to Rowing to Badminton.

In 2004 a crowd of over 5000 turned up to watch the girls’ game and the subsequent men's match. The University of Leicester were victors of both matches throwing down the gauntlet for this year.

Although a lot of the girls have only played for a short time, they are certainly not lacking in talent or passion and the match looks set to be a thriller with the universities first and second in their BUSA league.
