Player Insurance
To be adequately insured anybody playing rugby must:
- Become a member of an affiliated club
- Become a Registered RFUW Player and / or
- Become a member of an affiliated county squad and / or
- Become a member of an affiliated RFUW Regional Squad.

Player Private Medical Insurance:
The RFUW also highly recommends that all players have private medical insurance to cover medical costs and/or loss of earnings related to injury.
The RFUW have been working closely with e-Xcellent health, who are an independent insurance broker who can advise on every UK health insurer. As broker to the RFUW they are able to assist all of our members and players to ensure they have the best all round ‘rugby friendly’ policy at the best price, whether this is PruHealth or not, but in general terms of price, cover and a whole host of ancillary benefits PruHealth stands head and shoulders above the opposition. It is unique in that it promotes the concept of looking after your health and it is possible to reduce premiums year on year. It is simply currently the best deal out there at the moment and on top of this e-Xcellent health and PruHealth have enhanced this package for all RFUW members.

Club Insurance
- Clubs must be affiliated to the RFUW.
- Women’s / girls teams should ensure the Club Secretary is aware of their teams existence.
- The Club secretary must then include all women and girls teams on the Club Insurance Form.
County Team Insurance
- Teams must notify the County Honorary Secretary.
- The County Honorary Secretary declares Women’s and Girls’ sides on County Insurance form.
- In event a County side is set up later in the season, the County Honorary Secretary declares new sides to RFU Competitions Department.
Regional Team Insurance
- This is organised centrally by the RFUW to cover specified and approved Regional Programme Training and Competition Dates.
- Any additional activity must be approved by Women’s Rugby Development Manager in advance.
Tour Insurance
Going on Tour:
- Teams must complete a ‘Permission to Tour’ form (available on RFUW website, in resource section) and submit to RFUW Administration for approval.
- Contact Marsh Insurance to agree additional tour insurance.
Receiving a Tour:
- Teams must complete a ‘Permission to Receive a Tour’ form and submit to RFUW Administration for approval.
