Worcester wing back in action for England Women Select

April 11th, 2006

Worcester wing Kim Shaylor will make her return to international action on Good Friday for the Women’s England Select XV who take on Sweden at RAF Halton, kick-off 4pm.

The player, who has 16 caps and can also play at full-back, missed England’s successful Six Nations Grand Slam campaign with an ankle ligament injury she sustained at the beginning of the year.

Shaylor’s return to Super League action last weekend for the Tornadoes, who defeated the Stormers 22-0, has helped prompt her return to the England set-up.

Lichfield’s Emma Dresser will lead the side against Sweden. The national side will also play England Women Students at RAF Halton on Sunday, kick-off 2pm.

England Women Academy coach, Gary Street, said: “The England Select side is an exciting mix of A internationals, students and under 19s players.  Kim Shaylor is returning to international action and this game will give her invaluable match time having missed the entire Six Nations campaign through injury.

“The match will also give us a chance to look at players like Abi Mowbray and Jo McBain who were injured for the under 19s tour to Canada.  This is their chance to impress whilst for other players it is their chance to gain some pitch time and experience at an international level. Hopefully the game will be a good test for both sides and a chance for further development for all.”
