Insurance Information

Insurance for Senior and Youth Teams as detailed below.

Player Insurance and Public Liability

As per a letter recently sent to your men’s club treasurer, your team insurance and public liability will automatically be covered by the RFU as of 1st August 2006, however you must ensure that the men’s club representative who has responsibility for completing any insurance paperwork, knows of your existence and completes your team details on any RFU / Marsh insurance papers for next   season. This insurance is only valid if you are affiliated through the RFUW, if you are not affiliated you will not be covered!

The RFUW will produce a list of affiliated clubs the week before the season begins and post it on the website.  If your team or a team you are playing do not appear on the list please contact us immediately, as you may not be covered to play.

Insurance for University teams as detailed below

Player Insurance and Public Liability

  • It is a requirement that all university teams are affiliated to the RFUW in order to play in the BUSA league and to have access to the required and compulsory insurance via Marsh Insurance.
  • By being affiliated to the RFUW this will not only allow clearer communication and support for universities teams but also ensure that all players and officials are playing under the guidelines and regulations set out by the RFUW for the playing of rugby by women i.e. age bands, scrummaging laws and disciplinary action.
  • Marsh or the RFU/W will send the necessary insurance information to you as soon as possible after your affiliation. If you are a club with an affiliation to a men’s club please make sure you contact the men’s insurance representative to ensure there is no duplication.
  • You must produce a valid Marsh Insurance certificate to BUSA by their required deadline and before BUSA will permit universities to participate in Merit Leagues and Knockout Competitions.

BUSA will withhold entry to leagues from those Universities who are not affiliated with the RFUW and have not followed the above process.

The RFUW will in conjunction with the RFU produce a list of insured clubs the week before the season begins and post it on the RFUW website.  If your team or a team you are playing do not appear on the list please contact Marsh immediately, as you may not be covered to play. Please make sure you read the insurance information carefully and make your players aware of the cover that it provides.
