Marie Sim, Oxfordshire County team manager said: "It was a great success and all who came had a great day."

Squads from Essex, Hertfordshire and Middlesex joined Oxfordshire at Grove. Hertfordshire won the overall day but for all the girls, they were all winners having a great experience to take away and remember.

Sim added: “This was a great opportunity to promote girls rugby in Oxfordshire, and hopefully more girls will come forward to join in and play girls rugby.”

The Oxfordshire girls, who entered both the under 14s and under 17s categories, came from clubs all over Oxforshire, including Grove, Oxford, Chinnor and Witney. The Oxfordshire squads were coached by Denise Carr and Helen Price both from Grove RFC and Steve Parslow from Chinnor RFC and Simon Wysocki-Jones also from Grove.

Following the popularity of the event the county festival looks set to be repeated next year.
