Watch England Women’s international rugby stars for free at the home of English rugby!

February 5th, 2007

Reigning Women’s RBS 6 Nations Grand Slam winners and IRB Rugby World Cup finalists England will take to the hallowed turf of Twickenham Stadium on Saturday February 10th and you can watch England’s best female rugby players for FREE!

England Women are set to face RBS 6 Nations newcomers Italy for the first time at Twickenham stadium, kick-off 415pm. This will be England’s second fixture on the RBS Six Nations calendar, with England going into the game on a winning note following their 60-0 drumming of Scotland last weekend at Old Albanians RFC.

After losing 25-17 to New Zealand in the final of the 2006 IRB Rugby World Cup England will also be looking to bounce back from the heartache of that defeat with another successful European campaign. England head coach Geoff Richards said: “There is of course added pressure on us this year as the reigning champions, and once again it will be a tough tournament.

“France finished just one place behind us in the World Cup, in third, while Scotland impressed with a sixth place finish and Ireland 8th. Wales, who did not play in the World Cup but ran second in the Six Nations last season, have been training hard over the summer with two autumn internationals against Italy and the Netherlands. They will again provide strong opposition and have a point to prove.

“Italy are the newcomers to the tournament this year, replacing Spain, and we will take them on at Twickenham stadium. Their addition to the championship is a positive move for the international game and it will also bring us in line with the men’s Six Nations championship. There’s certainly going to be some exciting rugby on offer and I hope that as many as you as possible will come along and support England at the home of English rugby.”

Entry to the women’s RBS 6 Nations match at Twickenham Stadium is free and people can gain access to the stadium directly after the conclusion of the men’s RBS Six Nations game against Italy.
