The UK Sport Drug Information Database (DIDâ„¢) service which allows clubs and players to find out whether a licensed product or substance is Prohibited or Permitted in rugby is being replaced and will be unavailable from 1st January 2009.
A replacement will be operational by mid-2009 however in the meantime clubs, players and support staff can check the status of branded medications or ingredients using interactive guidance documents available on the the UK Sport 100% ME website (www.100percentme.co.uk).
These documents can searched alphabetically for particular brands of medications or specific substances. Note: Similar to DID these cannot tell players about the status of any supplements (see supplements section of website for further information).
Clubs, players and support staff are reminded that they can also check the status of medications and substances using the Drug Enquiry Line on +44 (0) 800 528 0004 or by emailing drug-free@uksport.gov.uk.
Some medications players may need to take for common medical conditions, such as asthma or hay fever, may contain a Prohibited Substance. So players should remember to check medications carefully before using them, no matter how familiar they are with the product - IGNORANCE IS NO EXCUSE!
