Paviors Rfc Girls U15’s; (Nottinghamshire)

Following a successful recruiting campaign which was supported by the Sportsmatch Grant. Paviors Rfc began the recruitment of girls to form an U15’s side to go along side their U18’s ready for the start of the season.

It began with the introduction to TAG Rugby at schools within the Gedling area in which a Team of 9 Girls went forward to represent the Borough in the Nottinghamshire Youth Games. The team achieved a Bronze medal missing out on the Silver on the tries count back system.

The girls really took to the sport and decided to bring their friends along to training to help boost up the numbers. Since then the numbers have grown and we now regularly put out a strong 13 a-side team every week.

Following their success and hard work we had 3 x Girls selected for the Nott’s Linc’s and Derby A Squad (NLD) and 8 x girls in the B squad, who all took part in the annual CB Festival at Newark. Following on from that day 4 x Girls were selected to go forward for Regional Trials on the 20th Jan 08 and all four were successful in getting into the East Midlands Squad.

As Girls Rugby gets stronger especially within the NLD we are always looking for new players to join in the fun and become part of the team. If you are interested and want to know more about playing Rugby within Nottinghamshire/Mansfield then please contact Ken James (Chairman M&J Section) 07765 305722 or for more details visit our web-site www.paviorsrfc.co.uk.
