Tarleton RUFC claimed an important milestone in the comparatively short history of the Lancashire club when they beat visitors Stockport 13-10 in the final of the Northern Cup section of the National RU Under 17 Championship today.

The victory not only earns the club the Northern Champions title, but also qualifies them for a place in the National Semi-finals against the Midlands winners on April 20.

As expected, the three finals played today were all competitive affairs, with Wirral winning the Plate 9-8 with a last-minute drop goal against visitors Old Rishworthians from Halifax.

U 17 Cup - Tarleton 13 Stockport 10

U 17 Plate - Wirral 9 Old Rishworthians 8

U 17 Bowl - Wetherby 27 Sheffield 17

The Shield final between Keswick and Darlington Mowden Park will be played on Sunday, April 13, 2008.
