Women’s Super League reaches its climax

May 7th, 2008

The Thunder and Tornadoes teams will clash in the Super League Final on Sunday May 11th at Heythrop Park, kick-off 145pm, after both teams maintained their 100 percent clean sheet at the weekend.

Thunder picked up another good win (19-8) against the Celtic Hurricanes on Sunday but they were made to work hard by a very spirited Celtic team who in the lead up to the game were ravished by injuries and player unavailability.

In the Tornadoes versus Stormers clash, the Tornadoes dominated for the first half-hour playing with power and pace. The star of the show was Lichfield’s Emily Scarratt who scored six tries in the 53-15 victory. Fly-half Katy McLean ran the game well for the Tornadoes with great support from England players Tamara Taylor and Samantha Dale and England Under 20s’ Sam Bree.

The Stormers and the Celtic Hurricanes will now play off for third and fourth place at 12pm on Sunday at Heythrop Park also.

In its third year, Super League has provided a high level of intense competition for England’s elite players as well as players in Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
