RFUW National Sevens wrap-up

Worcester defeated the reigning RFUW National 7s Cup champions Richmond on Sunday to be crowned victors at a rain swept Leighton Buzzard.

Worcester ran in a 12-7 victory against their Premiership rivals who had won the cup competition two years on the bounce. They also clinched a 19-7 victory against Lichfield in the semi-finals.

In the Plate competition Waterloo beat Chesham 19-5 to win the title, while Old Albanian Saints defeated Wimbledon 31-0 in the Bowl final. The ‘Dinner Service’ category was won by Hertford who beat London Welsh 10-5.

On Saturday, in warmer conditions, the Under 18s and Under 15s also enjoyed a good day of 7s rugby.

The winners of the Under 18s Cup were Exeter Saracens who defeated Wimbourne in a South West derby, taking a 22-5 victory.  Exeter also beat Worcester 21-0 in the semi-finals.
 
In the Under 18s Plate the winners were Welwyn who beat Darlington Mowden Park Sharks 22-7, while in the Under 15s Cup North Hykeham took the silverware, beating Exeter Saracens 12 -10 in the final. North Hykeham beat Jimmies Angels, Waterloo and Reading in their three pool matches to reach the knockout stages and then beat Basford in the quarter-finals and London Irish in the semi-finals.

The Under 15s Plate the winners were Tynedale who defeated Worcester 10–7.
