The Rugby Football Union for Women will be hosting a Coach and Under 18 Player Development session at Houghton Kepier School in Houghton Le Spring in County Durham on Sunday 29th June.
The free session, which starts at 9am and finishes at 5pm, is aimed at new or already established coaches in the women’s or girls’ game and under 18 players who want the opportunity to benefit from top quality coaching from RFU Coach Educators.
The session will encompass both theory and practical sessions and will include developing play from the scrum and line-out, coaching continuity, building successful attack, understanding defence and game sense approach.
Rob Thomson, the RFUW’s Club and Coach Officer for the North East, said: “The RFUW has identified a need to provide a high quality of support for the development of club coaches and players and also a need to attract new coaches and players to the women and girls game in the region.
“The day will provide the coaches with some new ideas and practices, which they can take back to their clubs and include in training sessions as well as the opportunity to develop as coaches themselves.
“The players will benefit by experiencing different coaches and their methods and gain a better understanding of why their coaches ask them to do certain things, but also they will have fun.”
