Changes to affiliation process for the 2008/2009 season

June 25th, 2008

The RFUW is pleased to announce changes to the way players affiliate for the forthcoming season which will benefit your club directly.

Rosie Williams, RFUW Managing Director, said: “After some discussion it was recognised that there are issues with the cost of affiliation and that in order to demonstrate better value for money and encourage our clubs to affiliate and register their players changes needed to be made.”

For the 2008/2009 season player registration will be linked with league status. Clubs will therefore pay a one off set fee based on how many players they must have to meet the criteria for the league they are in.  The fee being levied will remain at £11 per player.  For any additional players clubs recruit, they can keep the money for club funds or decide not to charge some players a registration fee.

Williams added: “While we are trying to move towards reducing the need for affiliation fees, charging clubs for the players relative to the league they are in will also reinforce the importance of minimum player numbers which is vital in becoming a sustainable club. In turn, it will also reward clubs for recruiting more players.”
