2003 Club Questionnaire

Over 1400 clubs completed the 2002 questionnaire.  Each club, and the game as a whole, now has a benchmark for future planning and development - where are we now, where do we want to be, how will we get there?

Thank you for your time and effort which has made the change from filling in several paper forms to a single on-line questionnaire such a success.

The information obtained from the questionnaire has been vital in enabling the RFU to secure additional new funding from Sport England and DCMS for the Community Club Development Programme which will invest over £9m during the next three years into the improvement of Community Clubs.

Clubs, their Constituent Body and Rugby Development Officer can work together using the information to identify areas that need development and provide targeted assistance.  This enables the club to access the widest possible levels of financial support from all the funding agencies such as Lottery, Sportsmatch, Awards for All.

The calculation to determine the number of international tickets each club will receive is 'fed' by information contained in the questionnaire.

The level of conditional funding paid to clubs is determined by their answers to the questionnaire.

The 2003 Club Questionnaire was opened to Clubs on 02 June 2003 at www.rfu.com/quest.  Clubs will be able to view and amend questionnaires.  A guidance document at www.rfu.com/quest/index.cfm?fuseaction=quest.Help describes how to complete the questionnaire.

The number of changes to the 2003 Club Questionnaire has been kept to a minimum to make completion easier for users and to preserve data integrity to enable year on year comparisons about the health of the game.

The responses made by a club last year are automatically added to the 2003 questionnaire.  If there has been no change, the club ticks the square box by the question number to save typing. This will significantly reduce the amount of time and effort needed to complete the questionnaire.

By the end of August 2003 Clubs will be notified of the development priorities for the game fitting the themes of More People, Better Places, Access for All and Enjoyment.   Clubs will be rewarded via conditional funding for taking action in these areas.

Clubs should complete their questionnaires by 24 October 2003 to ensure they don’t miss out on the benefits mentioned above.  This gives clubs nearly 21 weeks (3 times longer than last year, including 7 weeks at the start of the season) to complete the questionnaire.
