The Bristol and Bath Charity Sixes Tournament aims to be a knockout

Local companies are encouraged to participate in the second annual ‘Bristol & Bath Charity Sixes’ touch rugby tournament. The fund raising event donates proceeds to the local ward of the Wooden Spoon Society, Jarrod Cunningham’s SALSA foundation and the Tobias Deane Appeal.

The Charity Sixes organising committee - comprised of representatives from International Property Consultants King Sturge, Burges Salmon, Veale Wasborough, Oryx Executive Search, Debenhams and Deloitte & Touche are currently recruiting teams for the charity event which will take place on 16 August.

This year’s tournament will take on a World Cup style format and will be held on the grounds of Bath Rugby Club, who have donated their facilities free of charge.

Huw Forrest, of King Sturge and Chairman of the Bristol & Bath Charity Sixes organising committee, said:  “This is now our third tournament with the previous two being resounding successes.  We have received help from Bath Rugby, Bristol Shoguns, London Irish and the Rugby Football Union (RFU) who we wish to thank.  It’s free to come down and watch on the day so please support us”.

The organisers are keen to attract corporate teams of all standards who will battle it out for the cup in the knock-out shield and wooden spoon tournaments, experience is not necessary.

Last year’s tournament raised £3,200 for the Wooden Spoon Society and the Children Today Charity through a combination of donations, sponsorship and the team entrance fee.  This year’s event is expected to raise even more.

The Committee would like to thank the tournament sponsors King Sturge, Edwards Geldard, Biffa, Miles Macadam and Burges Salmon for their generous support of the event.
