Land Fill Tax Credit Schemes – Grants and Funding.

"Where there's muck, there's brass...."

Land Fill Tax Credit Schemes (LFTCS) are a source of money for organisations to carry out certain types of environmental projects.  A company, trust, charity or club can apply.

Rugby clubs can get funding from B and D banding which fund projects that develop communities using recreation and sport which are within 10 miles of a Landfill site.

This funding can be accessed two ways - either by going straight to a Landfill Operator in your area (more difficult route) or by going to an Environmental Body who distribute LFTC funds.

These organisations are invariably trusts and either operate on a much localised basis or a national basis. Details and mapping of these trusts can be found on www.ltcs.org.uk/map.asp  Each has its own funding priorities but most offer support in doing the application and they can fund anywhere from £500 - £100,000.

The Biffawards (www.biffaward.org ) are an example of an Environmental body which offer this service whereby for their grant schemes you enter your post code to find out if there is a Land Fill site within 10 miles to check eligibility. If eligible you can then enter the application process.

The only slight issue is that some Environmental Bodies who distribute funds also require you to register with ENTRUST (www.entrust.org.uk ) as an Environmental Body. ENTRUST (the regulatory body for the LFTC Scheme) provide good support for you to do this and most clubs would have suitable constitutions etc to do so. The application costs £100.

Biifawards are an example of a trust who require applicants to be EB. Other nationals such as Eventure Ltd (www.enventure.co.uk  ) and Onyx Enviro Trust (www.onyxenvtrust.org )do not and will help you more with the application.
