Government Funded Initiative to Support School Age Sport

As part of a £459 million Government (DfES/DCMS) funded initiative to support Physical Education, School Sport and Club Links £5.4 million has been specifically allocated with the aim of improving the range and quality of provision for talented (and potentially talented) sportspeople of school age.

There are a number of strands to this ‘Gifted and Talented in Sport’ programme. One is to provide up-to-date information for players, parents, teachers and coaches on a wide variety of sports on the ‘Talentladder’ website (http://www.youthsporttrust.org/talentladder/). This will include basic information about local pathways between schools and clubs, coaching tips, injury prevention, competitions and other current issues.
