Geoff Richards, said: "We’ve picked an experienced team with a proven track record of having beaten Six Nations teams in the past, but that’s not to say we expect to win anything. We’ll take each game as it comes and will have to earn victories. At the moment we see our key opponents, particularly as France and Scotland as both these games are away games."

Kim Shaylor is new to the England Team and comes as a product of the England Academy structure. Jenny Lyne returns to the squad after having had a baby after the 2002 World Cup. Paula George and Selina Rudge have both fought hard to return to the team and will be key players on the park. George is the former England captain who saw England to the World Cup final in 2002.

Richards added: "We will get a pretty good look at the Spanish senior team as they will play against our A team at the end of this month. We beat them convincingly last year but playing in Spain will be a different experience entirely."

Maxine Edwards retains her position as Captain. "I’m delighted to have been named captain and look forward to leading the team out for our 2004 Six Nations campaign. Like the men, we are defending the Grand Slam and Triple Crown, and we look forward to showcasing the strength of England Women’s Rugby."
