East Durham and Houghall Community take on the Scots !
26th January 2004
Jo Hull
East Durham and Houghall Community College have taken on a new annual fixture against the International U19 Scotland Squad. The match itself is a chance for the Female Rugby Academy to represent East Durham and Houghall Community College, (within the U19 age bracket) and hopefully set up some strong links with Scotland Womens Rugby.
The game will provide the College an opportunity to display some of the talented young female rugby players, ranging from Regional to International representatives.
The aim of the Rugby Academy based here at East Durham and Houghall Community College, is to develop local, regional and nationally based talented young female rugby players towards developing their full potential, whilst gaining the academic qualifications needed to secure a positive future.
The success of the College and the Rugby Academy has been evident, with a record of 11 International female rugby players and 9 regional players. The International players have varied from England U19 squad members, to the Senior England ‘A’ Team.
The Fixture will be played on Saturday 28th February 2004, at Murrayfield Wanderers ground. Kick off – 2pm.
