Saucony Kit Out the England Women

Sports brand Saucony has teamed up with the England women's rugby team to give them a great start to their Churchill Cup campaign, which starts against Canada in Calgary tomorrow. As the team prepared at their training ground in Newbury last weekend, the team from Saucony arrived with their Shoe Lab equipment and a team of podiatrists and biomechanics to analyse running styles.

The whole England Churchill Cup squad of players and staff was kitted out with running shoes. Johnny Quint from Saucony commented: "just by looking at the players running styles we could pick up slight problems with their technique and select the right shoes for their build and style. The equipment helps us to spot potential problems before they turn into injuries that would prevent players making it out on to the field. Our equipment allowed the players to see themselves running and make slight adjustments to improve their efficiency."

He added: "Saucony design a range of running shoes specifically with women in mind and we see this link up with the RFUW as an important one. Rugby players are required to run around the park for 80 minutes during a game and we are pleased to be able to help England's elite players by providing them with good quality shoes that are individually selected for each player."

England Head Coach, Geoff Richards commented: "Running is obviously a key part of our game and having the right shoes should help us be well prepared for our big games. I think the players really benefited from having their technique analysed and being able to see themselves on screen before and after adjustments were made."

England are aiming to retain the Churchill Cup title won last year in extra time against Canada. However, with the number one world ranked New Zealand team entering the arena this year, England will have to be firing on all cylinders.
