Carol Isherwood is set to start a coaching role at Henley Women's Rugby Club in July. The RFUW's Director of Rugby made the decision to get back involved with coaching after her role at the RFUW changed. "I have been wanting to coach for a long time and my new role as Director of Rugby enables me to do this as I am no longer involved with England selections. This allows me to coach again at a women's club."
"It is great to see female coaches like Amanda Bennett [Saracens] and Giselle Mather [Wasps] having successes at the top end of coaching. My aim is to bring other strong coaches to Henley and build a strong squad that will eventually challenge the top teams in the Premiership as well as leave a legacy of good structure and skills."
Isherwood was a founding member of the RFUW in 1983. Her involvement with women's rugby has included international playing honours as well as being a key volunteer for the organisation, technical director and coach. As a Level 3 coach, Isherwood will take a host of experience to Henley. She has coached Richmond Women, the South Division and England Emerging, and has acted as an assistant coach to the England Women's squad. She was awarded an OBE in 2003 for services to Women's Rugby. |
