Phase 3 schools have been assessed and notified and work on the programme will commence in September 2001.

The areas where 'families' are up and running are:

Phase 1: Birmingham, Carslisle, Cheshire, Cornwall, Cumbria, Hastings, Leicester, London, Manchester, Merseyside, Newcastle upon Tyne, Rotherham, Sandwell, Stockton-on-Tees, Sunderland, Wear Valley, Wigan, Wolverhampton, Yorkshire.

Phase 2: Brighton and Hove, Norwich, Southwark, Sefton, Walsall, North Somerset, Manchester, Dudley, Kent, Cheltenham, Gateshead, Cleveland, Oldham, Bradford.

Phase 3: Rochdale, East Durham, Blackburn with Darwen, Aylesbury, The Wirral, Salisbury, Stoke-on-Trent, North Shields, Newark, Nottingham City x 2, Tynedale, Bristol x 2, Ashington, Ealing, Devon x 2, Plymouth, Ellesmere Port, Hailsham, Essex, Hartlepool, Milton Keynes, Solihul, Loughborough, Bradford, Sheffield x 2, Corby, Kingston-upon-Hull, Barking and Dagenham, Barnsley, Wealdon East Sussex, Waltham Forest.
