James Brooks Called Into England Sevens Squad

11 March 2005
James Brooks (London Wasps) has been called into the 15 man England Sevens training squad ahead of the team's departure for the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Hong Kong on Sunday evening.

James joins the squad of 15 players following an eye infection to Mathew Tait which he incurred following the Tsunami match at Twickenham last weekend.  It had been hoped that the infection would heal this week but following a medical examination  by Newcastle Falcons, it has been agreed between Mike Friday, England Sevens Coach, and Rob Andrew, Director of Rugby at Newcastle Falcons, to withdraw Mathew from the Sevens squad.

James Brooks played for the England Sevens team in the recent IRB Sevens in Wellington and Los Angeles.

The final squad of 12 who will play in the tournament which begins in Hong Kong on Friday 18th March will be announced after the weekend's Zurich Premiership fixtures.

Ends.
