Hat trick for Clifton’s Emily Cooke as England A beat Nomads

12th March

Clifton and England winger Emily Cooke scored a stunning first half hat-trick for England A as they beat the Nomads 19 points to 14 at Imber Court Surrey today.

All three tries were fine examples of some excellent handling and interplay between backs and forwards. Kim Oliver converted two of the three scores. At 19-0 at half time it looked as though England would go on to score more, but the Nomads came back strongly with second half tries through Alex Hargraves ad Deena Aiken. Both were converted by New Zealand’s Hannah Myers.

England A Head Coach, Danny Wilson commented:

“We had an excellent first half during which we played some of our best rugby of the season. We moved the ball extremely well, keeping it away from the Nomads strong pack. We put lots of good phases of play together. The second half was a gutsy performance and we managed to hold on to claim a well earned victory which is particular pleasing for the development of the younger girls in the squad.”

England A’s next game will be against a touring South African team in May.
