Saracens centre added to Under-19 squad

April 19, 2007

England have added Saracens back Tom Lozides to their squad for the final game of the IRB Under-19 World Championship.

The 18-year-old is flying to Belfast for the final training session ahead of Saturday’s fifth place play-off against France at Shaws Bridge (3.30pm).

Lozides, who has played at centre and full-back in the Guinness A League this season, replaces injured Saracens team-mate Alex Goode.

The full-back picked up a knee injury in the 31-13 win over Argentina on Tuesday night and while the damage isn’t serious, he won’t recover in time to face Les Bleus.

Goode had been in devastating form with the boot, missing just one of his 13 shots at goal during the tournament.

He contributed 31 points to the four games in kicking eight conversions and five penalties.

Lozides will be the fourth Saracens player involved in the tournament after Goode, flanker Andy Saull and wing Noah Cato featured in all four games so far.

England name their side to face France, who they beat 29-5 at Henley earlier this season, on Friday.
