Cardiff Blues' Director of Rugby David Young has been confirmed as the coach of the Barbarians side who will face England this June at Twickenham.

England play the Barbarians in their last home fixture of the season.  Young played six times for the Barbarians, including high-profile matches against New Zealand and Australia in Twickenham and Cardiff, captained Wales and was selected for three Lions' tours before taking up a coaching career.

David Young said, “It is a real honour for me to be invited to coach the Barbarians at this stage in my career. In my playing days time spent with the Baa-Baas was always something to relish and from what I heard from Blues' players Martyn Williams and Tom Shanklin when they returned after playing for the Baa-Baas against the Springboks a couple of months ago, nothing much has changed.

“Even against the toughest opposition the Barbarians have the knack of getting the delicate balance right between match preparation, meeting people and turning in winning performances.

The match will be played at Twickenham on Sunday 1st June and tickets are on sale now.  This will be England's last home match of the season and is expected to be filled with some of the most exciting youngsters in the England set up - all trying to secure their place on one of England's two summer tours. The senior squad travel to New Zealand whilst the Saxons defend their Barclays Churchill Cup title in Canada and the USA.
