Loughborough's Ian Kench leads England Students in their opening international of the season against France in Tournon-sur-Rhone on Saturday (3pm).
The lock appeared in both wins over France last season and is joined by seven other survivors from the team that won 8-6 in Cahors and 19-10 at Iffley Road.
England named their side today, handing a first cap to Hartpury College flanker Andries Pretorius.
Leeds Met’s Richard Vasey – who has appeared in the Guinness Premiership for Leeds Carnegie – starts at fly half with his Headingley team mate Scott Armstrong on the left wing.
"We were very impressed by Ian Kench last season, with his high workrate, his aggressiveness around the pitch and he’s a very effective organiser," said head coach Steve Hill.
Manager Keith Green expects this side to be particularly combative up front, where Pretorius was a major force in Hartpury’s BUSA title victory last season.
"We’re very excited about the combination in the back row and we’ll be trying to play a high-tempo game that is representative of the student game in England," he said.
