RFU STATEMENT

June 27, 2008

RFU STATEMENT

The RFU has read the allegations made in today’s Daily Telegraph regarding the issue of 1,000 debentures.

The allegations made are wholly inaccurate and potentially defamatory of the RFU and its Chief Executive, Francis Baron OBE and have been referred to the RFU lawyers to advise on the appropriate action.

Martyn Thomas, Chairman of the RFU Management Board said “The issue of 1,000 debentures as part of the financing of the Twickenham Stadium south stand development, was done entirely properly and was reported to both the RFU Management Board and RFU Council in 2007.

“The RFU will fully support any action Francis Baron decides to take in respect of these unfounded and unsubstantiated allegations.”
