Carlos Spencer suspended for one week

Northampton Saints fly-half Carlos Spencer was given a one week suspension when he appeared before a Rugby Football Union disciplinary panel this evening.

Spencer was charged with making a dangerous tackle on Gareth Cooper during the EDF Energy Cup match against Newport Gwent Dragons on October 7 after a report from the independent citing officer Alan Mansell.

Spencer, who was yellow-carded following the incident,  when he appeared before the RFU panel at the Bristol Filton Holiday Inn Hotel.

But the panel found the case proved and Spencer will be suspended until October 23. He will be free to play again on October 24.

The panel was chaired by Christopher Quinlan and also included Mike Rafter and Geraint Edwards (WRU).
