Jim Evans England Profile

Updated 7 January 2008

Jim Evans
Club Harlequins
Position Second row
Born 02/08/1980
Height 6' 7" (2.01m),
Weight 16st 12lbs (107kg)
Previous Clubs: Thurrock

Jim Evans joined Harlequins from Thurrock in 2000 and made his league debut in the Zurich Premiership fixture against Northampton Saints on 19th April that year.  Later that season he made his England representative debut, appearing for the England U21s in their World Championships in Australia in June 2001, before tasting success at club level as part of the Quins squad that won the plate competition in the Middlesex Sevens at Twickenham in August 2001.

Despite being just 27 years of age, of the current squad, Jim is NEC Harlequins' longest serving player. The lock has had his fair share of injuries, a dislocated shoulder in the summer of 2004 meant he missed the opening four and a half months of the following season, but in seven years at the club he has made over 100 appearances.

Before his call up to the England Saxons squad for the 2007 Barclays Churchill Cup, Jim's most memorable rugby moment was getting his England U21 call up.

Outside rugby, he admires Sir Alan Sugar and enjoys walking his dog Spike.  A country and western music fan, if he hadn't made it as a professional rugby player he would likely have become a policeman.

Representative Honours: England U21s (2001), England Saxons (2007 Barclays Churchill Cup v USA, S, NZ)

International Record: Uncapped
