England Deaf Rugby trials

The England Deaf rugby team are on the lookout for new players for their programme of international matches in the forthcoming season.

Regional trials for the England Deaf team will be held at three venues around the country which potential new players are invited to attend.

The trials will be held at Rossington Hornets RFC near Doncaster on September 16 (North), Stowe School near Buckingham on September 23 Midlands) and Sidcup RFC in Kent on September 30 (South).

To qualify to play for the England Deaf team, players need a combined average hearing loss of 25 decibels or more in both ears. This roughly translates to a minimum hearing loss in both ears or a moderate hearing loss in one ear.

Players who think that they are eligible and who would like the opportunity to play international rugby for England should contact Tony Stoyles, the director of rugby of the England Deaf Rugby Union, at dor@englanddeafrugby.com or on 07703 581731.

Each of the trials will begin at 9am and will end with a question and answer session at 3.45pm.
