Burns to present President's XV Award to Kidderminster

Former England women’s captain, Gill Burns MBE will present Kidderminster Carolians with one of the prestigious RFU President’s XV Awards later this month.

The 73-times capped Burns will make the presentation at the club’s President’s Day at Marlpool Lane on Saturday April 12.

The RFU President’s XV Awards are competed for nationally and recognise good practice in a number of areas.

Kidderminster have won the 'More Coaches' category in recognition of the work the club does in developing its coaches. They were also runners-up in the 'Volunteer' category.

These prestigious awards are used as case studies in a 'Models of Good Practice' booklet which will go out to all the clubs in the country.

Burns will be presenting a trophy and cheques totalling £600, to celebrate the club’s success, to KCRFC President Neil Sollom.

Burns ended her international career by retiring following the 2002 World Cup final against New Zealand. She continues to play occasionally but is now further enhancing her reputation within the game as an administrator and role model.

Having served as the first woman president of Waterloo RFC, Burns is now President of the Rugby Football Union for Women.
