Harry Ellis started every 2009 RBS 6 Nations match but finished the Championship concussed when he was knocked out after just 16 minutes against Scotland.

A replacement in all the 2007 Investec Challenge games, he subsequently served a six-week ban for a dangerous tackle on Perpignan’s Dan Carter in Leicester’s Heineken Cup match in December.

He returned to action at the end of January for England Saxons against Portugal and is looking to recapture the form that made him England’s first choice for the Six Nations between 2005 and 2007 before knee ligament surgery ruled him out of the Rugby World Cup.

Harry made his England debut as a replacement for Andy Gomarsall in the Investec Challenge matches against South Africa and Australia in 2004 and played the following season’s RBS 6 Nations campaign.

He began playing rugby as a six-year-old with South Leicester, then moved to Wigston for a year before joining the Tigers Academy set-up in 1997. He studied at Leicester Grammar School and De Montfort University and appeared for Leicestershire and the Midlands at age-group level before going on to earn a full house of England representative honours.

Now in his eighth season with the Tigers, he made his first team debut in 2001 and was named Players’ Young Player of the Year for the 2001-2 season. He finally established himself as a regular in the No. 9 spot during the 2003-04 campaign.

Did You Know?
Harry is one of three rugby playing brothers whose father, Bob Ellis, was a former Tigers back row player. In fact Harry is the odd one out in the family as both eldest brother Mark and Robert were also forwards.

A self confessed sports fiend, he likes watching all manner of sports including boxing and cricket and used to be a talented club freestyle swimmer.

Harry is into extreme sports too, admitting he would love to go skidiving and bungee jumping and enjoys go-karting.
