29 June 2004
Rewind two years and while Leicester Tigers were winning the Zurich Premiership, their cricket team were coming within one run of victory over Rothley Park Cricket Club led by Jeremy Simpson, son of the late past RFU president John Simpson.

Coming back to the present and Jeremy has orgainised another 25 overs a side charity cricket match between Rothley Park CC and the Leicester Tigers to raise funds for a local charity, LOROS.  Leicester Tigers will be fielding a full strength side featuring many of the Leicester World Cup heroes (Martin Johnson, Neil Back, Dorian West, Lewis Moody, Martin Corry definitley included) and will be captained by England international Austin Healey. Can Austin lead his men to a better result this time?

Rothley Park Cricket Club will be captained by Ex-England test and one day cricketer Philip De Freitas who will be joined by other cricketing celebrities whilst Lady Gretton, The Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire and the active President of LOROS will open proceedings.

The event takes place on Friday 9th July and starts at 15:30The Park, Westfield Lane, Rothley, Leicestershire plays host to the match and it is sure to be a great occasion with a bar and a bar-be-que running throughout.  Admission is £3 for adults and £1 for children with free parking. All proceeds go to LOROS.

LOROS is an independent local charity and is recognised as one of the foremost hospices in the country. It provides a comprehensive service of continuing care in the latter stages of life for people who are terminally-ill throughout Leicestershire and Rutland, mainly with cancer.
