Leamington will officially switch on the new floodlights at their Moorefields headquarters with a game against National League club Rugby Lions on Tuesday November 2.
The lights have been installed with the help of a £60,672 grant from the RFU's Community Club Development Programme. The programme is an innovative collaboration between the Government, through the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, Sport England and 16 governing sports bodies aimed at improving community club sports facilities across the country.
Around £9.4 million of treasury money has been allocated to fund floodlighting, rubber crumb training pitches and regional equipment stores at rugby clubs across the country.
Leamington already have floodlights at Moorefields but their old lights will be relocated to the third team pitch to provide a new illuminated training area. The ground is used extensively for women's rugby and by local clubs and schools.
Terry Burwell, the RFU's Community Rugby and Operations Director, said: "We are delighted to make this award to Leamington RFC. The club is key to the local and regional development of rugby union and we are committed to making sure that the club continues to provide increased opportunities for all who wish to participate in rugby."
