Wednesday 8th December 2004
England have been forced to make a number of changes to their squad ahead of the Emirates Airline South Africa Sevens in George on the 10th and 11th December 2004.
Due to injuries sustained in the final in Dubai last week to Simon Amor of Gloucester (shoulder injury) and to Ugo Monye of NEC Harlequins (knee injury) both players are unable to play in George. Ben Gollings (unattached) and Richard Haughton (Saracens) have travelled to George to join up with the squad.
Pat Sanderson (Worcester Warriors) is also unable to play in George due to the ban he received for striking an opponent in the Zurich Premiership match against London Wasps on November 26. No-one will replace Pat in the team.
In Simon Amor's absence Anthony Roques of London Irish will assume the captaincy.
Full score and match results will be available at www.rfu.com/sevens during the tournament in George.
