The England Under 18 selectors have named three squads for this season’s international programme.
Following this week’s training sessions at Broadstreet, Coventry, 77 players have been selected.
One side for players 18 or under on January 1 will take part in the Four Home Unions Festival in South Wales (March 25 to April 1) and another January 1 side will play in the AER Festival in Lille, France (March 17 to 26).
The other side for players 18 or under on September 1 will play internationals against Ireland in Cork on March 26, France at Bournemouth on April 2 and Wales at Neath on April 9.
18 Group Manager Lynne Lewis was delighted with the development days at Broadstreet in this first season of an integrated schools and club age group, saying: “What was really good was the cross pollination of coaches from the clubs and schools set-ups, coming together and sharing ideas. Everyone has worked really well with each other and we are looking forward to an exciting international programme.”
The North provide the biggest contingent of 24 players, with 19 from the South West, 18 from London and the South East, and 16 from the Midlands.
The Home Unions and AER squads will meet again at RAF Halton, Buckinghamshire between February 4 and 6, with the September 1 players gathering at Castlecroft, the RFU’s National Centre for Schools and Youth near Wolverhampton, over the same dates.
