Keynsham RFC widens fund-raising concert to include Tsunami disaster

17 January 2005
A charity concert organised by Keynsham Rugby Football Club has been extended to include raising funds for the Tsunami Earthquake Appeal.

The concert was originally organised to raise money for the Trust PA Fund – a charity set up in memory of Paul Andre Blundell who died in January 2002 after suffering a serious spinal injury playing for Keynsham.

However as with most sports clubs throughout the country, the members of Keynsham RFC have been shocked by the events in Asia and have therefore decided to widen the scope of the concert to include the Tsunami Disaster Appeal Fund.

The club also has a personal interest in that Keynsham member, Brett Thompson, who is employed as a tour guide in Thailand, has decided to remain in Thailand to assist friends and work colleagues who have been affected by the tragedy.

The concert will be performed by the Avon and Somerset Constabulary Male Voice Choir at the St. John’s Parish Church, Keynsham on Saturday 29th January, starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets costing £5 are available from Keynsham RFC and from the Keynsham Parish Office. They will also be on sale on night.

Ian Tweedie, club secretary, said: “Keynsham feels that the concert which has been arranged for months is an opportunity for the residents of Keynsham and district to make a contribution towards the disaster fund whilst also enjoying a pleasant evening of music provided by a very accomplished choir.”
