Colin Noon loses appeal

Leicester Tigers prop Colin Noon lost his appeal against a six months suspension imposed for stamping on an opponent when he appeared before a Rugby Football Union disciplinary panel this evening (January 17).

Noon was found guilty of deliberately stamping on the head of Pertemps Bees prop Matt Long during a National League One game on October 30. Noon was on loan at Rotherham at the time and is currently back on a similar arrangement with the Yorkshire club.

Noon appealed against his conviction at a hearing in November but his appeal was rejected at the hearing at the Coventry M6 Holiday Inn Hotel this evening.

The panel comprised Dr Matthew Lohn (chairman), Richard Moon and Christopher Quinlan.

The panel decided not to increase the length of Noon’s suspension which will  run from January 18 to a date yet to be specified. His suspension period now spans the close season and the date he will be allowed to resume playing will be notified at a later date.
