Mark Regan charged

Mark Regan of Leeds Tykes has been charged with bringing the Game into disrepute during and following the Powergen Cup quarter-final with Northampton Saints on January 22nd 2005.

Regan is charged under RFU Rule 5.12, conduct prejudicial to the interests of the Game, with:

  • Attempting to deceive the referee (Chris White) by exaggerating the effects of a stamp to his head during the match.
  • Stating in a television interview that he intentionally exaggerated the effect of a stamp to his head in an attempt to persuade the referee to send off an opposition player.

The case will be heard at the London Bloomsbury Holiday Inn on Tuesday 8th February (6.30pm) by an RFU Disciplinary Panel of Geraint Jones QC (chairman), Jeff Probyn and David Hurst.

He is free to play until the outcome of the hearing.
