Coaching restructure at Saracens

16th August 2005
Issued on behalf of Saracens
As part of an internal coaching restructure at Saracens, Steve Diamond has been appointed to the position of Director of Rugby with Mike Ford taking on the role of Head Coach.

With the club in the final preparations for the start of the new season, the changes will assist Saracens as they look to progress in the 2005/06 Guinness Premiership and Heineken Cup campaigns.

Saracens Chief Executive Mark Sinderberry said: "The revised structure will see Mike Ford head up the on-pitch activities - a role he will take on full time when he ends his commitments with Ireland. Steve's position as Director of Rugby will see him oversee the rugby departments in a role which will report directly to the Chief Executive.

"In both Mike and Steve, we have two talented coaches and I believe these changes will give us further momentum as we look to build on the progression of last season."

A run of seven victories in nine Premiership matches saw Saracens finish fifth in 2004/05 and the Wildcard win over Gloucester at Twickenham in May saw the club book a place in this season's Heineken Cup.
