Thompson, who has yet to play for Saints this season as he is currently resting following the Lions tour during the summer, said: "Northampton is my home town and it is an honour to play for Northampton Saints and to pull on the jersey every week. I cannot imagine playing for another club."
The 27-year-old, whose daughter Elsie was born in July, added: "I cannot wait to get started this season and I am grateful to Budge for giving me some time off. I feel refreshed after the Lions tour and have enjoyed getting slowly back into training.
"There have been a few changes while I have been away with the signing of some exciting new players and the extension to Franklin's Gardens. As soon as Budge gives me the nod, I will jump at the chance to play alongside these players and to run out in front of capacity home crowd. |
