Tigers Call for Stade Venue Clarification

26 September 2005
Leicester Tigers has called upon Stade Français to finalise the venue for their Heineken Cup Pool 3, Round Two match scheduled for Saturday, October 29 (kick-off 2pm - local time).

Leicester Tigers managing director David Clayton said: "As soon as we became aware that Stade Français were investigating the possibility of moving the fixture to a stadium outside of Paris, we contacted the club to express our concerns.

"We expect to take over 1,000 supporters with us for this game and a lot of those have already booked travel and accommodation. As a club we have over 200 booked on our official travel packages and we have also chartered a plane to transport the team, its support staff and supporters.

"We have also made our concerns known to the competition organisers European Rugby Cup Ltd (ERC) and they are aware of the difficulties this will cause our supporters. The matter is now between ERC and Stade Français who expect a final decision to be made next week.

"We have proposed to ERC that when the date and kick-off time of Heineken Cup matches is confirmed the home club should also state the venue for the game so that supporters can buy their tickets with confidence. With this fixture just over a month away, it is very disturbing that there is a possibility that the match could even be played outside of France!"
