Guinness Premiership Round Up Week Five

Gloucester went to the top of the Premiership after a win at Sixways on Friday night against Worcester Warriors.

Three tries apiece with the difference being the boot of Ryan Lamb starting his first game of the season. He converted all three of the visitors tries and put over four of his five penalty attempts.

On Saturday Leicester Tigers were winners at Northampton Saints 15-10 thanks to the boot of Andy Goode who kicked five of his six attempts at goal. The Saints scored the games only two tries but failed to add any points with the boot from four attempts.

Bristol went back to the top of the table after their 33-20 home win over Harlequins at the Memorial Ground and picked up a four try bonus point.

The home side led 21-8 at the break and a double from David Lemi early in the second half took them into a winning 33-8 lead. Quins did come back with two late tries but the result was already settled by then.

London Wasps went to the top of the table earlier in the day after their 35-15 win over Newcastle Falcons at Adams Park.

They came back from a 12-3 deficit mid way through the first half to tale all five points on offer scoring five tries with England back Josh Lewsey rounding of the scoring in the last minute. England centre Matthew Tait marked his first appearance of the season with a first half try for the Falcons.

Champions Sale Sharks picked up an excellent away win at London Irish 31-14.

They scored four tries all from the backs with wingers Mark Cueto and Oriol Ripol, a double, getting three of them.

England fly half Charlie Hodgson put over all five of his kicks and is leading points scorer in the Premiership with 80.

Saracens moved up to sixth place with their biggest win since the 2000/01 season with a 55-23 thrashing of Bath at Vicarage Road.

They ran in six tries including a late double from replacement Rodd Penney. Glen Jackson helped himself to 23 points with the boot.
