PRA Computacenter Rugby Players’ Awards 2007 - Nominations

For Immediate Release: 24th April 2007

The Professional Rugby Players’ Association is delighted to announce the nominations for the 2007 PRA Computacenter Rugby Players’ Awards. The Awards Dinner will be taking place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Wednesday the 2nd of May 2007 and sold out in under three weeks with over 1,100 guests attending.

The Awards, now in their ninth year, are the highlight of the domestic rugby calendar celebrating the achievements of the 2006-2007 Season. With over 100 players in attendance, this is the best supported player event that also raises significant money for the PRA’s registered charity, The PRA Benevolent Fund.

Damian Hopley, the CEO of the PRA, is looking forward to another successful event. "This promises to be another outstanding evening attended by a number of stars from the Guinness Premiership and the International game. As well as honouring the players who have excelled throughout the season, the evening also raises much needed funds for those players who have had to retire due to serious injury or illness."

The Nominations are as follows:

Computacenter Players’ Player of the Year

* Mike Catt – London Irish

* Glen Jackson – Saracens

* Alesana Tuilagi – Leicester Tigers

* Dan Ward-Smith – Bristol Rugby

* Roy Winters – Bristol Rugby

Mercedes-Benz Young Player of the Year – The Nick Duncombe Memorial Award

* Anthony Allen – Gloucester Rugby

* Toby Flood – Newcastle Falcons

* Shane Geraghty – London Irish

* Tom Rees – London Wasps

* David Strettle – NEC Harlequins
