Gloucester name team for Leeds trip

Gloucester’s director of rugby Nigel Melville is looking to include his England stars in Sunday’s Zurich Premiership clash away at Leeds Tykes.

Melville has named both James Simpson-Daniel and Andy Gomarsall in the Cherry and Whites starting line-up for the Tykes fixture, with loose-head prop forward Trevor Woodman named on the bench.

Melville said: "We’re very keen to have all three involved at some stage of the game against Leeds Tykes. We have named both James and Andy in the starting line-up, and we hope that the game time they’ll have with England on Saturday will allow us to select them in the 22-man squad against Leeds on Sunday. We'll talk with them on Saturday evening and see how they are."

Melville’s back line is starting to take a familiar format. Springbok World Cup full-back Thinus Delport starts at 15 and Marcel Garvey joins Simpson-Daniel on the wing. The midfield stays the same with Robert Todd and Henry Paul maintaining their powerful and creative partnership at centre.

At half-back Duncan McRae, who partners Gomarsall, will be keen to continue the form that saw him pick up the Heineken Cup man of the match award last weekend against Bourgoin.
With Woodman’s England duties and Phil Vickery’s rib injury the Gloucester front row sees the return of Rodrigo Roncero and Andy Deacon in an otherwise unchanged forwards pack.
There will be a late selection and fitness calls on the bench at both prop and half-back, with both Paul Johnstone and Simon Amor keen to return from recent injury. Full-back/wing Jon Goodridge will also travel with the squad to Yorkshire.
