Leeds Tykes have today confirmed the signing of South African international back row Pierre Uys from Cape Town based Super 12 club, Stormers.

Uys, 27, made his Springbok debut against Scotland at Murrayfield in 2002 and has played Super 12 for the past three seasons, he joins on a one year deal.

Commenting on his capture Director of Rugby Phil Davies said, “Pierre will be a valuable addition to our squad especially with his experience at the highest level.  He is a strong, no nonsense player who will give us something that perhaps we have lacked this season.

“At 6’4” Pierre also offers options in the line out as well and can also give leadership at the base of the scrum,” added Davies.

The club have also confirmed today that Phil Murphy, James Ponton, Tristan Davies Ryan Walker and Gary Powell will be leaving the club at the end of the season.
