Hodgson has been out of action since he ruptured his cruciate ligaments during the Six Nations clash against Italy at Twickenham in March, an injury which ruled him out of the World Cup.
Charlie's passing was faultless and the Jets were soon ahead after centre Chris Mayor forced his way over for James Moore to convert.
Another long ball from Hodgson found Mayor again and he side-stepped the Wakefield defence to run in for his second of the game and Moore again added the extras.
Hodgson had had his work out and was replaced just before half time.
After the break Wakefield found room out wide for a try but that was their only reward on the night.
The Jets' superior fitness showed through and they soon extended their lead with tries from second row Paul Arnold, Daniel Fernandez-Arias and Rob Wellock with Moore adding two! conversions.
