Tigers to Field Exciting Squad for Middlesex 7s

5 August 2005
Leicester Tigers have announced an exciting 10-man squad for this year's Compass Group Middlesex Sevens, which takes place at Twickenham on Saturday, August 13. Tigers get their campaign under way against newly-promoted Bristol at 1.30pm.

England Sevens internationals Dan Hipkiss and Will Skinner and Ireland Sevens captain Ian Humphreys have all been named in the Tigers squad, alongside England Churchill Cup star Sam Vesty and youngster Tom Varndell, who has trained with the England Sevens squad.

Tigers first-teamers Luke Abraham, Scott Bemand and Ross Broadfoot will also join in the fun at Twickenham, along with new Irish signing Shane Jennings - who has joined Tigers from Leinster this season - and academy squad member Ollie Dodge, who played for the England Under-18s last season.

Hipkiss, who played in five IRB Sevens tournaments for England last season, Skinner, Bemand, Broadfoot and Varndell all played for Tigers in last year's Middlesex Sevens tournament, with the latter impressing against the British Army - the eventual winners - who ended Leicester's campaign in the second round.

Speedster Varndell also scored eight tries in just nine matches for Tigers' first team last year, whilst he also attended the recent IRB Under-21 World Cup in Argentina along with flanker Skinner.
